All the K-dramas last year felt kind of meh. I am happy to say that 2024 felt better. Not as great as the end of 2021 into 2022, which gave us The Glory, Squid Games, and the iconic Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
This year, I watched 21 K-dramas across three platforms (Netflix, Hulu, and Viki), as well as a few episodes of some C-dramas and one Thai drama. Oh and I rewatched a show in anticipation of the second season.
Did I stick to the r/KDRAMA list I planned at the beginning of 2024? NO! But that is okay. Here is the list in no particular order.
- Knight Flower
- Welcome to Samdalri (which was a continuation from 2023)
- Gyeongseong Creature Season 1 (continuation from 2023)
- The Glory
- Queen of Tears
- The Atypical Family
- Military Prosecutor Doberman
- Miss Day & Night
- Be Melodramatic
- Bad & Crazy
- Little Women
- Love Next Door
- A Virtuous Business
- Gyeongseong Creature Season 2
- The Trunk
- Squid Games (which I watched in fast forward)
- Good Partner
- Perfect Marriage Revenge
- The Third Marriage
- The Judge from Hell
- Jeongneyon: The Star is Born
- The Fiery Priest Season 1 (a rewatch)
- A Shop for Killers (I just started watching this and only have 4 episodes left)
For C-Dramas I watched:
- The Princess Royal (only 9 episodes)
- The Story of Pearl Girl (17 episodes)
And I watched the Thai drama Master of the House, which was quite disappointing.
As is apparent, some of the dramas I’ve watched were not released in 2024, but of the dramas released this year that I have seen, Here are my top five (yes, some I didn’t write a review for, forgive me). These are in no particular order.
- The Judge from Hell
- Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born
- Good Partner
- Queen of Tears
- Knight Flower
- And The Trunk gets an honorable mention.
I look forward to the dramas of 2025. Let me know what dramas you watched in 2024.
